This Week in Celebrity Fashion, Part II: The Bee’s Knees

20 10 2013

I never understood where that 20’s expression came from but it may have had to do with dresses getting shorter – or in this week’s case, going knee length.

Pretty?  Yes but way too wide.  No woman wants a dress that adds a few feet to her hips.

Crossing over a little into Miley territory, while keeping her tongue in her mouth for now, Selena’s look is edgy but not out of control.

More “hip-ster” action, this time from Dianna.  Again, in theory, a lovely look but I shouldn’t think of your skirt as an upside down golf umbrella.

Love a little neon, even if it’s a pretty dull design.  Great to see Carey breaking out of her usual black.

Not quite sure what ISN’T going on here so let’s break it down.  The top is a little nuts but the skirt is lovely.

Newcomer Lupita is going to be very memorable if she keeps up looks like these.  It’s an unusual but fun, flirty and most importantly interesting dress that’s a red carpet standout partly because I’ve never seen anything like it recently.  Great makeup too.

Looks like Camilla’s caught cape fever.  This is what a three time divorcee would wear to her 4th wedding in Vegas – and I mean that as a compliment.  It’s pretty, ladylike but unique.  Loving the bow details.

Honestly, if celebs just wore variations on lace dresses forever, I would be happy.  What’s better than a lace dress in a great color?

I’m glad to see that Courteney’s taken a break from messing around with her face.  While I like the wine color of her gown, this wrapped around satin sheet dress isn’t doing it for me.

Unlike the other ladies, Anne doesn’t stop at the knees.  This mod mini has a distinct 60’s flavor but it’s the color that makes the look.
